Ndomche: the grid

 - by admin

Warning, if you’re viewing the ndomche theme here, the top nav buttons are set to return you to the designer’s web site, so if you want home here, click the blog name, not “home.”

I’ve been cruising “grid” themes, looking for something brand new. This qualifies, however you pronounce it. It was born into a WP 2.5 world, with widgets and gravatars and grids, oh my! Here’s a nice writeup on grid esthetics and technique. Did you know for example that with grids it’s, yes, “Easier to apply the ‘rule of thirds’ and the ‘golden section’ to design, which results in a visually appealing layout to most human eyes.” Sounds purty, don’t it?

BTW Did you know that according to Cheikh Anta Diop the golden section goes all the way back to Egytian temples? And now that I’m looking at the book he wrote, it’s clear that the grid system goes back that far, too. There is geometry in the Eye of Horus, my friend. I’m feeling esthetically attached . . . gimme grid!

Actually, there are entire grid frameworks. Deven Goratela seems to favor Blueprint (the Google code), and we have no reason not to favor Devon. So we downloaded, uploaded, and can now share with you what the “tests/index” page of the Blueprint framework looks like. They advise you to, of course, “view source” of the test pages.
